Sabah Quake: PM calls for govt agencies to take action

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called for all government agencies to take appropriate action following another earthquake that hits Ranau this morning. 

"I received news on an earthquake measuring at a magnitude of 5.1 Richter scale that has hit Ranau, Sabah this morning. 

"Government agencies and assets are directed and mobilised to take action," he posted on his Facebook and Twitter accounts. The earthquake hit the area at 2.29am. 

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake occurred 25km southeast of Kota Belud, Sabah. 

Tremors were felt in Ranau, Kudat, Beluran, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Keningau and Kinabatangan, it added.
