MUAR: The Education Ministry hopes to get a special allocation under Budget
2013 to implement the National Education Policy Review Blueprint, Deputy Prime
Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin said on Sunday.
He said the special allocation was necessary to effect a major shift in
education through the three phases of implementation of the blueprint over a
period of 13 years to elevate Malaysia to be among countries with the best
education system by 2025.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak, who is scheduled to unveil the National Education Policy
Review Blueprint on Tuesday, was expected to determine an adequate allocation
for implementation of the proposals, he said.
Muhyiddin spoke to reporters after opening the Pagoh Umno Division delegates
meeting here. Also present was his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
On the blueprint, he said it was a major initiative of the government and the
ministry in particular to effect a shift in national education, and added that
he hoped that the people would accept it.
He also said that in the three months after its unveiling, the ministry would
give the people the opportunity to forward their views to improve the
blueprint.
Then, the blueprint would be fine-tuned and presented to the Cabinet by the
end of the year, he added.
