Civil servants who leaked govt secrets are traitors: Azlan

KANGAR: Civil servants who leaked information or government secrets through any medium are traitors to the country, said Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
He said such action would only expose the country or state to its enemies. He said history had proven in wars or politics that defeat was the result of information leaked for personal gains or satisfaction, and had to be stopped immediately.
“This is a reminder because I am still getting copies of classified documents exposed through WhatsApp. Civil servants who commit these act should stop immediately,” he said in his speech during a monthly gathering of federal and state civil servants at Dewan 2020, here today.
Azlan said he preferred action taken against civil servants who leaked out government information or secrets through legal channels when the diplomatic approach fails.
Azlan also said the state government was committed to improving the civil service and national vision by 2020 and had therefore fixed the time taken for approval of a project at 60 days instead of the usual 80.
“Government departments and agencies are also encouraged to take the initiative to improve their delivery system which may be a small idea but would have a big impact,” Azlan said.
