PETALING JAYA: Pensioners can start withdrawing their RM500 special payment from their respective bank accounts from Aug 9.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced on July 25 that civil servants would receive a half-month bonus or a minimum RM500; with pensioners receiving a one-time special payment of RM500 in appreciation of their services.
According to a Public Service Department circular, the special payment would be given out to all government retirees who qualify for a pension before or on July 25, including family members of a civil servant who died during duty before or on July 24 and was to receive a derivative pension.
Those who normally fill up a Pension Claim Form at bank counters under Section B, need not do so for this special payment, the PSD circular stated,
The Veteran Affairs Department would handle the special payment for armed forces' retirees.
