PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs is disappointed that it was not invited to the Prime Minister’s first address to civil servants yesterday.
Its president Omar Osman said he was surprised to discover that the union had not been informed of the event at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
“I got to know of the event when my deputy called me. But none of us had received any invitation from the Public Service Department to attend the event,” he said.
“We are upset because we represent the employees and yet we were not invited. We have already sent a letter voicing our disappointment to the department’s director-general,” Omar said.
He said the union had always been invited previously for meetings and did not see why it should not be present this time around. “How will we get to know the 1Malaysia concept and the paradigm shifts that come with it when we are not even there to hear the Prime Minister’s speech?”
On Najib’s announcement to allow exchanges between officers of government-linked companies (GLCs) and civil servants, Omar said the move would be beneficial but wanted the Government to specify the level of civil servants who would be subject to the transfer.
“It would be a good experience for both GLC officers and government servants to gain more experience so that they may upgrade themselves and move up the management structure. But a mechanism must be in place to determine who is chosen for the exchange,” he said.
